Everyone is welcome to attend our monthly programs, held September through May on the first Tuesday of the month. The club business meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.; refreshments are at 7:00 and the speaker begins at 7:30.
All programs are held in the fellowship hall at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 2136 Carter Avenue, St. Paul, just a few blocks from the St. Anthony Park business district. The entrance is on Chelmsford Avenue.
The first Saturday in June finds our members busy selling plants to the public at the St. Anthony Park Lutheran Church, corner of Como Avenue and Luther Place (across from the Speedy Market). The plant sale coincides with the St. Anthony Park Arts Festival and St. Anthony Park Library book sale.
The plant sale's hours are 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
We have a good assortment of perennials, natives, and house plants, with some vegetables, shrubs/trees, and annuals. But you never know what our members will have to share through the sale! In 2016 we had special large six-packs of pollinator-friendly plants (milkweed, blazing star, and others).
Garden Tour
Every other year (in the odd years) we sponsor a tour of ten gardens in our neighborhood, often featuring ravines and other challenging terrain. Our tour is proud to have Master Gardeners at each garden.
Member-Only Events Yankee auction — A post-holiday potluck with white elephant gift exchange. Held in January. Garden crawl — In even-numbered years when we're not doing the Garden Tour, we spend a Saturday or Sunday visiting the gardens of a selected group of Garden Club members. Caravan to nurseries — Each spring, we travel to a selected group of nurseries to browse and shop, stopping for lunch along the way. New member welcome dinner — Hosted by the board, and held in fall at the home of one of the board members.
